Frequently Asked Questions
Fire Alarm
Do I need a fire alarm system?
Each jurisdiction has its own requirements. Please contact us and we can provide what is needed for your specific project.
The fire alarm is sounding (horn and strobe.) What should I do?
Evacuate the building. If you have a monitored system, wait for the fire department to arrive and confirm that there is not a fire. They will not want you to silence the system until they have confirmed it is safe to return.
The fire alarm is beeping and says I have a supervisory. What should I do?
A supervisory signal is caused by an activation of a tamper valve, a duct detector, or other mid-priority event. We recommend immediately checking to determine the condition and correct it. This will not result in the fire department being dispatched. Hitting acknowledge or silence (depending on the panel) will silence the condition for 24 hours.
The fire alarm is beeping and says I have a trouble. What should I do?
A trouble signal is caused by an impairment of the system. This could be as minor as a low battery or a phone line down, or as critical as failed detection. For the next step, follow up with us to determine the severity of the issue and what the best response will be. Hitting acknowledge or silence (depending on the panel) will silence the condition for 24 hours.
Why do I need an inspection?
Inspections are a series of tests determined by fire code that demonstrate that the system is functioning properly and will perform as needed in the event of an emergency. Reports are kept on site and given to your fire department.
Security
My panel is beeping and has a yellow trouble light. What should I do?
For a DSC product, hit *2 and refer to the owners manual to troubleshoot the condition. We can help you remotely troubleshoot and get the most cost effective repair if needed.
For a Bosch product, hit Enter to review. You can call our office and we’ll walk you through the process as well as schedule repair work if needed.
I need a copy of my user manual.
Just let us know which panel you have via email and we’ll send you a copy of your manual.
Do I need to use a phone line?
We recommend using a cellular connection. In fact, over 90% of our new systems use cellular. For security systems, it is possible to monitor over your VoIP phone line (Comcast/internet) but there are difficulties involved and it does not provide as reliable of a connection.
